Random Punctuation Rant

So, I heard someone say that "plurals are not formed with apostrophes."

Well, I disagree. How stupid would it be to write the following sentences this way?

How many ss and is are there in the word Mississippi?
And from Webster's 9th, page 1538 (which uses apostrophes for plurals) ...
Would you really want to say --
You should dot your is and cross your ts.
His ls and 7s looked alike.

The apostrophe is necessary for certain plurals.
